When you told your folks you were getting married their faces lit up like Christmas trees. When you said "in Vegas!" they looked like you had hit them in the head with a hammer. The thoughts going through their mind was a 2 am wedding in a pink chapel with Elvis conducting the ceremony and matching tattoos at the reception. Well, if that is what you want Las Vegas has you covered but really they offer so much more. Las Vegas has more weddings than any city in the United States and they are not all done by Elvis. Las Vegas has flare and prides its self for having something for everybody so get you wedding favors ready. Wait, first decide on what type of wedding you want, then get your Las Vegas wedding favors together. Its time to get hitched.

If you are just looking for a nice, more traditional wedding, Vegas has plenty of options. Most of the major hotels have standard chapels that are not themed with the casino and most offer a planner to help you set up your arrangements. Unless you live in Las Vegas this will be a priceless help. Some over the chapels seat over 100 people while other seat 50 and some are very small. Once you know how many people will be coming you can pick the appropriate one. If the actual ceremony is very small (5) then you can meet people at the reception. Most of the really small ceremonies can be video taped and can be shown at the reception. You might just decide to do the private ceremony then honeymoon for the week and return home for a reception and show the video there.

If you want a chapel, though, that does stay in the theme you have several choices. Egyptian is one that is common. If you were having your wedding dress made you might even decide to have it made from Egyptian cotton. A lot of our wedding traditions started in Rome and were spread across Europe by the Roman Empire so why not have a Roman wedding. That venue also has a garden if you want to get married outdoors. Las Vegas is one of the few places you don't have to worry about getting rained on (sorry, if you do happen to get rained on it obviously was not meant to be). A pirate wedding would be lots of fun. They do it on their own Treasure Island. You rings are delivered by a pirate swooping down from the crows nest.

It really is the small ones that are so nice. Getting married on the Eiffel tower would be great. Well, of course it's not really the Eiffel tower but you didn't have to fly near as far and this one is legal! Italy is not too close but now you can wed on a gondola. It looks like Venice but clean. A popular wedding in Las Vegas are the helicopter weddings. Yes, you can get married in the helicopter hovering over Vegas but they have more ideas for you. You take the helicopter to the rim of the Grand Canyon and marry there. It is even better at Red Rock Canyon.

How ever you want to marry, you can find it in Las Vegas. Big or small, elegant or gaudy, they can do it.

Your Passion When Choosing a Venue For Your Perfect Wedding

by An Keeler Evans, executive summarized by Andromeda

All right you’ve considered and have a fairly good idea about what you’d like to do with your: budget, style, location, size, religious requirements, and the season that makes the most sense for your wedding. Now you’re ready to look for some wedding venue possibilities. Any of your choices here may mean that you need to rethink some of your answers to the questions about size and style. You have to assume that your budget is non-negotiable, unless you decide to spend a lot LESS money. Upward doesn’t work. You don’t want to spend money you don’t have.

But one of the best ways to choose your venue is to base it on, not what venue hosts 300 weddings every year, but rather on what means something to you. Once you know what’s important, you can always make something work. And if you’ve done your homework about budget and size and those other things, you can find a place that works perfectly for what you want and at the same time exemplifies who you are and what matters to you as a couple. This will make it so much easier for your community to get behind you and support the marriage, your embarking on.

If you’re passionate about food: choose a great restaurant or a great caterer (who is going to have some preferred venues.) These venues will have number of guest restrictions and of course the price of food may impact your budget as well!

If you’re passionate about beers or wines: you may want to choose a vineyard or brewery. I’ve been in some wonderful wine bars and wine stores that might be wonderful for an intimate, interesting wedding.

If you’re passionate about the beach: Do you want to be married on the shore or in a resort nearby?

If you adore the mountains, find an inn, or a campground or a park (or a ski resort that is off season, and therefore cheaper, during the summer!).

Are you sports fanatics? Do you want to play croquet at your wedding? (No contact sport, all you need is for bride or groom to get a broken leg! Do you want to arrive on bicycles from opposite directions leading your guests who ride? (If I’m your wedding celebrant, I’ll meet you there with the other non-riding guests, ok?) Or, (and I’ve been waiting to ask this) is a tailgate wedding right for you?

Are you a history buff? Is there a mansion, or a fort, or park which is historic and interesting to you?

Are you family kids at heart? Is there a place one of your families always went? Is there someplace you’d like to nominate for your future family reunions? Plan your wedding and choose your venue around your family.

You might be interested in geology or hiking or art or amusement parks (take your first dance on the carousel – but hold out for one with a calliope!). You might be dedicated to your community. Whatever it is that thrills you can be converted to something that interests your crowd. You always want to pay attention to their comfort. You want to pay attention to your wedding ceremony and your wedding vows, because after all this is a wedding, this is meant to start your marriage. But choose a venue that you’re likely to visit again and again. Every time you do, you will remember the promises you made and the love you have for your partner, and it will renew your spirits and your marriage!

What to Consider Before Choosing a Venue For Your Perfect Wedding

by Ann Keeler Evans, executive summarized by Andromeda

Congratulations! You’re getting engaged. Go and enjoy that for a bit will you? It’s a lovely feeling that you should revel in! Spend some time being lovers and enjoying this magical state before you rush into the planning. There’s no reason to rush being married. (Unless someone’s deploying or you’re having an unexpected baby. But even then, you might just want to get the legalities attended to at the court house and have your ceremony and reception when it makes more sense.)

There, when you’ve had a chance to come down to earth, generally the first things people want to do is set a date and look for a venue. Before you do, here are some things to consider.

  • Budget.

What kind of money do you really have to spend? What’s your budget like at home? This is even more crucial than ever when the economy is so tight. You need to be able to survive (and get married!) even if one of you is unlucky enough to loose your job. Are your families helping? Are you willing to go along with the strings that entails?

  • Style.

What kind of people are you? What will make you comfortable? Are you formal folk, or really laid back? Do you want a picnic or a 10-course meal?

  • Location.

Do you want to be married in the place where you’re living now? Would it make more sense to be married where one of your families lived? Or where you met? Or may be at some neutral locations? How about half-way between everyone or far away from everything?

  • Size.

Are you longing for a blowout bash? Do you each have a kajillion relative? Have you always done things with a large group of people? Then you may be looking at a large wedding. Or are you very private people from small families? Do you wish to share this with just a few intimate friends? Then a small wedding may be what you want. Weddings, both large and small, can have price tags that run from reasonable to outrageous, so you’re not necessarily making price decisions on size. But venues are size dependent!

  • Religious Requirements.

Do you want to be married outside? Do you want a church wedding? Are there restrictions on the sorts of places you can hold the wedding ceremony? In that case, the rest of the wedding will be based on your ability to accommodate your religious/spiritual requirements. This is important as your wedding ceremony is the heart of the day and your wedding vows are the heart of your marriage to follow!

  • Season.

Do you have a favorite time of year? And is there a place in the world you prefer to celebrate that season?

Once you’ve answered these questions, you can begin to make some decisions about whether you want something

wedding-venue

prestigious and elegant or funky and fun or something in another direction altogether. And given the way things go, I’d wait to find the venue before you settled in on the date. Think about the season you’d like, that’s helpful. And then consider whether you need a Saturday evening wedding or whether you want to explore the more affordable Friday or Sunday options. There’s a lot to think about before you settle on your venue! But all this thinking will make your wedding fabulous and set great precedent for your marriage. People who plan ahead (together!) do better.
